Accessibility

With effect from February 2023, we are delighted that Eton, through the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead, is now part of the AccessAble website and App, allowing visitors to pre-plan their visit with detailed accessibility information.

We recommend you download the AccessAble App in your Apple or Android Play Store, and search for ‘Eton’ in the listed destinations.   You can also find out more, direct on their site here  www.accessable.co.uk

Eton is a historic town, with its cobbled pavement areas, narrow doorways and uneven streets.

Two brand new visitor information boards have been installed at each end of our High Street, both featuring braille edits.

At the Information Centre, we have installed a low-level ring button, for anyone who has accessibility issues, and all staff are at the ready to help with enquiries by stepping outside of the office where necessary, to avoid our (listed building) entrance step.

We have also introduced a brand-new Audio Tour, which allows visitors to download and play, at their own pace, a descriptive audio tour of the town at a volume suited to their own needs.

We have fully trained members of staff who now offer, small group, or indeed private tours where extra assistance is needed.

We have created printable word files of our popular Eton Walkway brochure, allowing us to print a larger text version for anyone who finds this useful.

We have carried out Experience Assessments, and duly re-designed the layout of our visitors space, ensuring that as much information and retail space is accessible to all, with as little as possible being restricted.

We welcome any feedback on our visitor experience in order that we may continue to learn and improve.
